For most basement D.I.Y-ers out there,
flooring can be a very challenging part of their project, and they’re usually
worried about all of the costs of installation. They’re worried about having to
buy expensive floor power tools to install floors in their homes that they’ll
never use again, so they call in a company to do it for them.
The easiest flooring to use without
compromising on looks is called LVP (Luxury Vinyl Planks). These are planks
made of vinyl flooring (as the name suggests), but they are made to look like
real hardwood floors. LVP is ideal for any rec room or family room for your
basement because it is low maintenance, cheap, durable, but doesn’t have the
cheap look of regular vinyl flooring. Installing LVP takes minimum time and
effort, and flooring power tools are optional, just snap the planks together!
Tip 1: Make sure that your basement sub-floor
is smooth (any uneven spots will warp the floor)
Tip 2: Cut under your doorjambs (to allow the
vinyl to easily slide under)
Tip 3: Use a hammer to tap stubborn planks
into place
